and I'll change my icon back later in the week, but damnit, it's going to be Diana for a few days
wonder woman and the bionic woman were the only 2 female characters I remember adoring and wanting to be when I was a kid
so to see a movie about her, directed by a woman, and have it be SO DAMNED GOOD is really something to me
also, just let me say how impressed I am at the responses I've seen to some of these stupidly yet unsurprisingly sexist comments about the movie
and that even though we aren't done, comics are improving so much in the last years with regards to representation and diversity etc
remember what it was like 10 years ago if you tried to bring up some of these issues with the big 2 or the creators?
I seriously cannot wait to see WW in theaters
also, ~surprise~ if someone hadn't told me it's directed by a woman, I wouldn't have known! ie, there's no reason not to have more women directors damn it
watching it you can tell... they don't cater to the male gaze snort
it's not gory or bloody and yet you can still see war sucks
...holy crap that makes me want to see the movie even more
different ways of telling a story, gasp!
or, well, different ways to show things on screen XD
the one romantic scene has a tasteful fade that shows less than Top Gun did in the Take My Breath Away scene
you get the impact that gets you all happily exited without feeling uncomfortable seeing it with your 7 year old granddaughter
in fact, yeah. Bratling watched, and other than hiding a little (more because she THOUGHT it was going to be over the top violent than the actuality) she was fine
I'd rec it more for 9 and up, but it's doable if the kid understands it isn't real
and we had lovely talks about the movie on the way home
also, Wolfie... count how many times you feel like tearing up, watching it
it was 8 times for me, honestly
though one of those was just pride and emotion and seeing George Perez and all those other names up on the screen and thinking wow, we finally got this and it is GOOD
and also excess emotion in the No Mans Land scene
damnit, Wolfie, watch it soon so I can have more people to squee over it with and see if it worked for them as much as it worked for me
I wanna see it soon as possible
so maybe tomorrow night with a friend, or Sunday
I wanted to go right back in and watch it again, but I had Bratling and it was too late for that for her
it's got funny moments and romantic moments and emotional moments and kick-ass action
yeahhh, I get excited
