the week I had. Pardon, this is going to be a RARE long Rant from me....but everyone can use this reminder, especially if you have children Like I do....I've spent the past few days at the police station with my Daughter, who is 13yrs old.
A girl from her class, in an IM from facebook Messenger, was trying to get nudes...pic for pic....but the kicker is....it didn't SEEM to be the girl wanting them for herself....but for her "Uncle" whose picture was also being sent to my daughter.
Mind you, My daughters account is for gaming only and I even have in the facebook image that this page is just a gaming account and strictly monitored by her mother. I also allow her to talk to her friends from school on Messanger. If I sense anything off, I will go into the account and check things out. I have the PW. That's the stipulation to use it.
I also am very close to my daughter, we talk about her day each night at bed...how things are, how things are going....and she said she had a convo earlier in the week that made her feel uncomfortable. SO I logged in and looked and told my daughter, Honey I got to go to the cops with this....either this girl is getting abused and used by her uncle
to get other childrens pictures, which is child pornography.....or this girl is getting it for herself which is just as bad.........OR this is one of those Mean girl things where they try to get images to use and shame someone with on the internet. I went into the talk about how images on the net are permanent. You can never trust the person
on the other side. You could have a falling out, they be mean spirited, etc..and upload them to porn sites....share them with all your friends at school..etc. I took the Images and IM to the cops. This girl is either in trouble or causing trouble, either way something has to be done. Frustrating thing is....There were NO LAWS BROKEN.
Because no images were traded that were nudes, there were no laws broken. HOWEVER, it was enough to open a case with the Child protective services to investigate. I'm concerned for the girl but if its a joke ,she's getting her uncle in trouble as well as doing the whole mean girl thing with my daughter. So that's where I've been past few days.
If you have children, talk to them. Talk to them about the dangers, what can happen and how trust isn't always how you think it is with people. Luckily I talk quite a bit with my daughter and we communicate. This is one of those things you hear about but think can never happen to you. I'll be damned if it didn't land in my damn lap and did happen!
VincentVile Before I became a stay home Mom and artist in here.....I was a human service worker, specializing in Child & Adolescent Mental health. I worked in runaway shelters & dual diagnosis boarding homes.I've seen what the shady shit does and I've tried to be what I saw these children lacked in their home. SO many parents aren't involved& are clueless
