A bit of clarity on something you mentioned: the companies that Russian agents attempted to compromise during election produced tallying devices, not voting machines themselves. There is still no evidence of compromised voting machines.
That being said: fuck voting machines, why the fuck do you use them
Also, contact your local politicians and demand that they revert to paper ballots if this goes through.
Yeah that. Actually, do that anyway! Paper ballots are objectively superior to voting machines in every way!
yeah I believe the russian thing was a huge misinformation/indirect email hacking campaign but god
this is like a dream for our own politicians who want to use the law to defraud their way into office
So calling reps to oppose it may still be productive too.
fucking greg harper, he's my representative
I'll drop my reps a line and tell them thank you for voting against this garbage
all three of them are Democrats and one of them said of selling off federal lands or vandalizing national parks, "over my dead body"
Wow, as if Republicans couldn't prove themselves to be any more sketch and corrupt already
from what I've heard, at least, the attack on the tally machine company(ies) was probably a stepping-stone to gather credentials for phishing attacks on election officials :X
although my understanding's that the EAC is and has always been pretty toothless in practical terms... but then again I can easily imagine them despising even symbolic oversight. ._.
Also worth noting that the committee vote (and article) happened four months ago.
Not to say don't be vigilant about this, but it doesn't look like it's exactly being fast-tracked.
Yeah, I can hardly blame anyone for having a hard time keeping up with all this crap! Just pointing out relevant details as I see them.
