A bit of clarity on something you mentioned: the companies that Russian agents attempted to compromise during election produced tallying devices, not voting machines themselves. There is still no evidence of compromised voting machines.

from what I've heard, at least, the attack on the tally machine company(ies) was probably a stepping-stone to gather credentials for phishing attacks on election officials :X

although my understanding's that the EAC is and has always been pretty toothless in practical terms... but then again I can easily imagine them despising even symbolic oversight. ._.
