[History] The book "A.D 500 a journey through the dark isles of Britain and Ireland" by Simon Young is a book I must recommend if you enjoy Roman Britain and the sub-Roman period. It covers all of what is now England, Ireland, and Scotland. It's a nice easy read, not big time academia, but at the same time gives you great little nuggets of knowledge...

by the author! It's a fictional primary source travel log! In the introduction Young describes it as historical beads strung on a fictional string. It's an unusual approach, but I love the results . Being set in the year 500 ce. it's a bit after when I set Never a Legend, but for this period and location in history this happen all the time...

Never a Legend is set approximately between 435- 460 it's still not entirely nailed down, but the sources I find are often earlier or after and I try my damned-est to extrapolate to the most accurate spot in the middle. ;; It's a challenge, but it's also a labor of love. Simon Young is a great read and he's written for the magazine Fortean Times.
