all i can manage this month is variations on Leslie Knope's laugh track
I would do the exact same thing
i want to get off mr toads wild ride
I've read speculation that Trump may fire Mueller soon as well
Last I understood itTrump can't fire mueller but Sessions can but Sessions won't unless Trump fires Sessions and hires someone who will fire Mueller
They always bench my fave character.
Spicer's visceral agony will be missed.
Never have I seen a soul leave a man's body piece by piece before.
Melissa McCarthy will have to forge a new legend
I'll always remember the red-rimmed torment in those beady eyes
devimelete Sessions had enough integrity to recuse, so maybe he'd have enough to refuse as well?
if he did, it wouldn't be out of integrity. it would only be because he better understands the nature of political shitstorms than our dear commander
same with the recusal, imo. he's just been in the game longer.
Mueller has incredible bipartisan appeal, he's known for being honorable and competant.
Sessions recused but who knows if he'll refuse firing Mueller for very long
haha wow, starts with s Goldman Sachs ad trying to build back their PR, damn do they target their demographic
The fact that he insist he's staying despite Trump shit talking him makes it possible he won't fire Mueller
it would be the dumbest thing trump's done to date, and I do not say that lightly.
But that doesn't stop Trump from firing Sessions, I think
Honestly the dumbest thing was him firing Comey
It's what kicked off Mueller being here in the first place
Everything else is just domino effect
Comey didn't have the same kind of respect and support as Mueller, from what I understand
this. not that firing Comey was a smart move by any stretch, but he could cobble some defense for the action, given the controversy during the election
As I understand it, if he tries to get rid of Mueller, the House committee can just hire him back
(his contradicting himself in that disastrous interview aside)
They are on record saying it'd be a huge waste of time for him to try, because if he fires Mueller, the House will immediately re-hire him and it'll just make him look stupid and suspicious
(It may not be the house committee, I could be remembering that wrong, but I recall the last time people wondered if he would fire Mueller that someone came out and said "he'd better not, we'll just re-hire him" and he can't control that.)
a lot of people on the right see Comey as 'that tool who wouldn't charge Crooked Hillary', and on the left he's 'that asshole who re-opened the e-mail issue days before the election'
I understand why he's scared though, and I invite everyone to watch Maddow's breakdown of the investigative team Mueller's hired and their specialties. it's downright inspiring.
By contrast, every piece from every source that I've read about Mueller since his appointment describes him in terms usually reserved for a demigod who has completed legendary feats of heroism
stroopwafelling: haha god it's true. they fucking changed the term limits of fbi directors to let him serve longer.
How do I even begin to explain Robert Mueller?
Oh yeah, ever since Hoover died, people made sure FBI wouldn't control the WH like Hoover did when he was alive
Then Nixon came along and more changes were made
Hence the 10 year term for FBI directors
That way, no matter what, a director can only cover either most of or parts of the different WH Adminstration
If Comey wasn't fired and he did his entire term, he would have been able to get through the Trump administration in the first term but will be replaced by the second term of a trump WH or somebody else
