I have to admit this is the worst part of going to our little small country Church.... now keep in mind that we are probably the youngest group of people that goes on a regular basis not counting kids and grandkids who visit. but I just had a discussion about how Librarians are limiting information and I just about went ballistic

anyway our organist definitely has his opinions... and he decided since the library no longer stocks the regular big old gigantic collection of encyclopedias that they are trying to hide and bury political information and show one side or skew things whatever

and I was trying to explain to him the many reasons why encyclopedias just are not always or at least the hold print encyclopedias are not really the best format to give a lot of those information these days

and it was like arguing with a brick wall because he actually started debating the meaning of the word fact I just wanted to hit my head against the wall

especially when he made the comment about in response to something I said about science and needing up-to-date information and how if you've got an old set of encyclopedias they're not going to give you the proper facts and he said well then I guess they weren't facts to begin with were they if they've changed

report on wasn't in the encyclopedia yet because borders had changed Etc and therefore you didn't have up-to-date information

so he said the fact that they were getting rid of old encyclopedias was trying to hide information and that it was important to keep those because they showed how people think back in the day

anyway I just wanted to tear my hair out by about 5 minutes into the discussion

and I had to argue and tell him that any good library and is not trying at all to hide information or what not because most Librarians I've known or the type who will get in trouble 4 sharing things that some people don't want the general public or subsets of it to see

The Librarians I know are most definitely not going to be condoning any kind of censorship whether it's something they agree with politically or not
