Chara - 3, 7, 10!!

chara - body

1. They were born with brown eyes. They started going redder as they grew up; post-death chara's eyes are at their reddest. The treatment that made them resent humanity wasn't so much because of their Special Anime Eyes; they really only got noticeably crimson in the last little while before they climbed the mountain.

2. they Small. They've got a rounder face and a bit of a healthier frame than Fresh-From-Canon Frisk since they had their time with the Dreemurrs to get them to a healthier weight, but they've still got some really not great habits thanks to the Rampantly Undiagnosed Mental Illness so they've got some real unhealthy life patterns

Lots of caffeine when they're kinda too young to be chugging coffee and Monsters left and right, really bad sleep patterns, skipping meals when Toriel isn't being the Life Saving Angel of a Stable Routine, ravenous midnight gorging on bags of junk food they've hidden behind furniture because they didn't eat for like 14 hours, etc

if they were capable of growing up, they would not really Grow so much. They have basically signed themself to a constant "hey uh you have a cold or something you look tired" lyfe

(they'd be super self-conscious about how Small and Not Muscular they are compared to Asriel "My Genes Are Made of Seven-Foot Beef Mountains" Dreemurr and big fluffy stocky frisk and also worry a lot about whether their height is Ruining Their Ability to Pass)

3. A quiet part of them really wants to try growing their hair out like Asgore. A larger part is still staunchly in the "don't bother changing because you aren't even a person and you will never actually deviate from that LOVE-hungry demon in the end" camp, alas, so they still keep the same hairdo they always have

(also Long Hair is for Girls nobody would ever believe they're a they if they had Girl Hair right ha haha h [quiet sobbing] )

chara - habits

1. They always sleep in the exact same position: on their side, curled up, their back pressed up against the wall. It's basically the most "defense against being touched" position they can muster, and that isn't a coincidence. (Sometimes they kind of sink into the gap between mattress and wall and push the bed all out of alignment lmao)

2. They got them fidgety hands. When they're nervous, they're always scrunching and twisting and pulling their sleeves or toying with the little heart-shaped bead on their friendship bracelet (the paint's been rubbed off the edges by now). Their stillness is very much a conscious, willful effort to suppress that innate squirminess.

3. They're an inventory hoarder lmaooo. They constantly hoard food in hiding places around the room, and they will deny to the very last that they're doing it. Partly out of shame (it's disgusting, you'll get fat, what kind of lack of self-control leads you to keep doritos hidden in three places, that's how you get ants), partly because if people know,

they'll take it away.

Their constant state of being is basically "be entirely prepared for everything to fall out from under you at all times," so that means backup stashes of things to eat, and being completely and utterly ready to grab The Cupcake Backpack of Survival and run for it.

Is this one supposed to be about specific people or traits that they click with, i'm not sure

8 for Asriel?

I'm just gonna do general traits that endear people to them I spose

1. The people they click with easiest are just... the ones who don't treat them like they're a landmine, tbh. That don't have that preparedness in the back of their mind to handle them being A Big Threat. Asriel was Their Everything, they've gotten really close to Shep and Mettaton, they're lombve their goatparents - all folks who treated them like a kid

And not like... in the sense they'd say people treat kids. In the sense that they just. gave chara a chance. didn't do a guilty until proven innocent or assume the worst, because doing that means that they just... do their best to live up to expectations, ha ha

(and like the huge thing with my churro in particular is that they... want to get better. they want to be a kid. they want to change. people that are willing to offer them a chance at it without any strings attached or immediate safety net because Obviously They Won't Do It are so big for that)

2. A morbid sense of humour. They very much cope with things by laughing at them in an attempt to take away the emotional power they hold. They've very much got that middle-school "the smart and strong thing to do is not care about anything" outlook so they actively resist anything that makes them look visibly passionate or moved or scared or etc etc

so like... people who play along with their attempt to deescalate by laughing things off make those "oh god i just made a mistake i'm gonna get my ass beat this is proof i'm an irredeemable parasite" moments not feel so End of The World As We Know it. people who take it at face value and just take it more and more seriously and linger on it

or actually take it as proof they're unfeeling and enjoy making people suffer

uhhhhh they don't really gel so well with that subset.

I mean, the laughing at it is very much an avoidance thing to keep from actually having deep heart to hearts about What They've Done and it isn't necessarily always the best way to handle things

but this is about Things That Chara Gets Along With In People not things that are the healthiest ways to cope lol

3. Passion!!! As much as Chara tries to project that "oh I'm attached to nothing i don't feel anything life is an abyss blah blah" 2cool thing, they're all about seeing dedication and hope and a desire to change things burning in people's hearts

They get so excited about the Absolute GOD of Hyperdeath! and list all his attacks by name in all caps and put Asriel's name in swirly rainbow font because they love the way his eyes would light up and his voice would get loud and he couldn't sit still when he invented his pretend characters and imaginary worlds

they call Undyne a heroine and say she NEVER gives up because they have so much admiration for how hard she works to overcome her situation and face a human on equal footing and refuse to compromise her morals and befriend someone who hurts people

In the very worst timeline, the traits that shine loudest are resignation, indifference, apathy. Is it really that surprising that they attach to the polar opposite of that? The hopeful light in people's eyes? The resolve to change fate? determination recognize determination bru

chara - favourite things

1. mmm yum yum chonklet. They've got childish tastes lmao, and the taste of chocolate just reminds them of happy things - of a family that will keep chocolate bars in the fridge for you to just. have. because they know it makes you happy. because they trust you to be reasonable with it instead of lording it out of your reach because you dont deserve it yet

2. knitting. They really like having something to do with their hands - an outlet for all that constant nervous energy burning in them that's constructive. A creative outlet that people discount as not creative per se - there's no individuality expressed in "you made some blue socks" compared to like "asriel fingerpainted a rainbow god shooting lasers"

3. Flowers!! The embodiment of a patient, quiet existence. They don't need to justify their colours to anyone. They aren't greedy or leechlike for needing to be nurtured and pruned and watered, they aren't attention-seeking for being bright and aromatic. they're silent parts of a wordless language

Something nice can come out of ugly mud!! they can coax something living to grow and flourish!!!

dirty hands don't always have to mean you're destructive or sinful!!!!!

asriel - hobbies

1. give this boy a notebook and some markers please. he loves to invent his own childish picture books and "comics" and stories about obvious self-inserts who everyone loves who can do anything and explode the entire world and shoot fire from their fingernails etc etc

2. also give him a camera!!! he's not above playing with the family video camera to make the games he and chara play into "epic" "action" movies that mostly involve shuffling toys around a lot, but also, memories are really important to him. There was never a moment that was too mundane to be worth preserving for him.

3. playing tricks! Now you're smiling for nooooo reason! (You really ARE an idiot.)

His games got a lot more cruel and malicious when he was deep in the flowey mindset, but he always had a mischievous streak lurking behind that Pure :3 Unproblematic Snowball uwu thing

His tricks, uh, range from like... "fill the sugar bowl with salt" or "tell dad that Gullible is written on the ceiling" to like. "cunningly arrange for all the souls in the underground to converge on the same place so he can become the god of this world" and "load your state back to full health and then use a 2013 "u mad" meme face"

but they're all tricks nonetheless, huh
