you're a lizard person, right?
definitely Probably Reptilian
...Like, I know that sounds like a joke answer, but I legitimately mentally associate 'Chara's shirt green' and 'Snap's username green' in my mind.
my favourite colour is green so i'll allow it
is precious and good to my soul
these are not mutually exclusive
definitely definitely MAXIMUM GOBLIN
I N C R E A S E G O B L I N
Chara is NB and you are NB? It seems like the most blatantly obvious thing BUT NOBODY SAID IT YET.
undertale was my Gateway Representation to "hey that's a thing you can be you know" so it's extra tru
Man I have gotten into Academic Conversations about Singular-They in classes before
you do me a Proud, friend
My discussion to my own classes is usually
"I am fine with you using singular-they, but you can't be sure everyone will be"
"So, in academic writing for me, it's cool. Go for it."
whomst the fuck isn't going to let you use singular they
disappointed but not surprised: the they/them experience
I had to defend it in a 400-level grammar class. There were a surprising number of English-major types who were like "use he/she or she or he"
And my response was "No, you'd never say that. It sounds bad. You sound bad. If you don't know the gender, just use they."
"IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR JANE AUSTEN IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME."
why are we still in this Hellhole
ENGLISH IS AN EVOLVING LANGUAGE AND THE SINGULAR THEY FILLS A MUCH-NEEDED FUNCTION DAMMIT.
JUST MAKE IT OFFICIAL AND BE DONE WITH IT.
singular they isn't even a New Evolution THIS HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE LIKE THE 1700S
it's literally in the dictionary as a singular thing now
My dissertation contains no uses of Singular They because
being like family
It wasn't okay for my panel.
except. a much, much better family than what i'm used to lmao
bbbbbb
When it happens in my dissertation it's always things like "when readers of the novel encounter the it-narrative, they..."
also probably throwing ketchup thru someone's window
Pluralize it, nobody cares.
the singular they has been in use since fuckin chaucer they have no argument
You have 18th century prescriptive grammarians to thank for it.
People who went around forcing English to fit into a Latin-based grammar. The problem being, English has Germanic Roots. It's not a romance language.
english has so many layers it's like a multi-background mashup
Hi, welcome to things I have to know because of what my field of study is.
every so often changes were straight up effected by great kings or lords or some such were like "no, i want something done like this and changes were made for no other reason"
do not apply logic to the english language, it has always defied logic
Old High German meets Old Norse meets Middle French meets 700 years.
