Surgery went well. The infection was more contained than expected. The removal site is about the same size & shape as a soft caramel type Werther's Original. Like a fat rectangle shaped hole
from where the infected bone was removed, along with my back molar because of the location of the infection/how much bone a socket requires.
I'm really pissed-off about losing the tooth but this surgery was medically necessary or I'd die from sepsis.
The surgeon that removed my tori slightly cracked the bone and it got infected. It festered untreated almost 2 years
The pain & symptoms being blamed on other health conditions I have. Then in April the bone abscessed.
it was the worst pain I have ever felt. the inflammation from it spreading throughout my soft tissue and radiating pain through all my lower teeth
Because of how it looked on X-rays and the location of the "ground zero" abscess site my dentist thought it was a gum abscess because it was lower than tooth roots and my teeth looked fine
The low dose antibiotics he gave me didn't clear it up so he sent me to a orthodontic specialist. His imaging showed part of my jaw bone was infected
I was on antibiotics for 6 weeks throughout April & May. And it seemed healed with just possibly some minor reconstruction needed from where the abscess ate a chunk of my bone & soft tissue.
it August it suddenly cane back. 4 more weeks of antibiotics. There was discussion of putting me on IV antibiotics
But my dentist decided to ignore there was even a problem. He never responded to my questions about a cost estimate or anything.
I lived in constant fear or the infection suddenly flaring again (August seemed to occure within hours), or developing sepsis. The feeling of pressure was becoming unbearable
The 1ST specialist ignored my questions about the last resort surgeries we initially discussed. Mainly because I'm unemployed so would have to finance them so he ignored me
Finally I demanded a referral to someone that would do it regardless of my finances. So I saw an orthodontic surgeon in Digby.
He took more imaging and was shocked. It showed a small fracture with infection in it. He said I was lucky I hadn't died from septic shock
It was more intensive than he felt comfortable doing at his surgery so he referred me to Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery in my provincial capital that specialises in reconstruction
They initially booked me for Hallowe'en morning. But I refused and so was booked for November 20TH with more strong antibiotics on file at my nearest pharmacy just in case
So now I have had a chunk of my jaw bone removed along with a tooth. And it's sadly feeling less sore despite the swelling/bruising than the last few weeks have been
I'm really angry over it. But it was either have it done or die.

I'm doing better than expected! Thursday I had to go to get more medication though because of my difficulty regulating body temperature
I had a hard time regaining consciousness after the anesthetic and had hypothermia. Even though they cleared me to discharge, I was still having trouble. Things have subsided now
Now I'm really feeling the bruising :-[ Still mental shock about what's missing

I'm doing better! I'd doing better if I haven't been cramming my diploma work but they declined my extension request even with 2 medical notes
Got the work in. Recovering well now that I'm following instructions instead of cramming! Already feeling stronger than I did with the infection
