I catch myself saying please and thank you to them
and for half a second, felt weird when Alexa announced my package was being delivered today (it has a travel case for the echo dot) lmao
(oops, now she won't be surprised with her Christmas present snort)
Do you use the dot for music?
music and other stuff, yeah
the dot is nice because it connects to a Bluetooth speaker led lightbulb we got
so we can hear it throughout the entire main floor of the new house
and Bratling uses it to play games
I like the Google home mini if I'm trying to play playlists (and because I like to keep track of music through my Last FM account)
it's also better for just asking generic queries
handsfree while I'm busy in the kitchen is great
we got a WiFi smart plug, too, so Alexa turns on my Christmas tree in the morning
I was wondering about connecting it to my Kindle Fire for music
basically, both play music, both can do smart home tasks. both do weather.
depends on how you're planning to do it
the dot has Bluetooth, so that's useful
I can't play music straight from my Google home mini to the Bluetooth speaker, but I bought a Chromecast audio with the $25 credit I got through Google/Walmart for buying the Chromecast or Google home mini (forgot which)
so at least I can comment on which devices I like best for which services, lol
since now I have a fire stick, a Chromecast, an echo dot, a Google home mini, a Chromecast audio, and a Kindle fire
(and an Android tablet and Android cellphone)
for music, it probably doesn't matter which one you use, unless you have some specifics that make one better than the other
both play Spotify just fine. echo dot connects to Bluetooth right out of the box but the Google home mini doesn't.
but if you're playing through the included speaker (which isn't bad, just not high enough quality for everyone) then it doesn't matter
I cast from devices to the mini or dot, too. or to Bluetooth speakers.
once I figure out all the little details of which works best for everything, one will stay upstairs and the other downstairs.
which will be a lot better than dragging electronics up and down stairs depending on if I'm down in my office or the living area on the main floor
