If it was just a christmas present I wouldn't worry. But it's medical equipment. If they ordered one day shipping on that right before Christmas they probably need it.

If it has a name, do a google + your town? They may have gotten the house number mixed up.

Alternatively, you could call the local doctor/hospital to see if they know a patient by that name who needs it and they could possibly make the call?

Yeah that seems to be the only option. It looks like what usps does in this situation is expect the intended recipient to go retrieve the package themselves.
