...I just figured out when I stopped remembering to check in / open this on the daily. When I replaced my phone cause the screen didn't work, they couldn't direct transfer all of my stuff because a dead touchscreen won't let you hit an 'accept' button. I lost all of my most recently added numbers, and all the apps that weren't pre-loaded.
I couldn't remember what most of them were, so they got added back as I ran into needing to use them. Since seeing the app icon was what reminded me to check in, not seeing it meant I didn't remember it, and without an external situation in which it was a crucial component -- I forgot about the thing even being a thing, until I was cleaning my inbox.
... eleven minutes later, from the other end of the house: hey, look, I remembered to go get the app!
