I think it's about someone who's trying to put on a tough guy face but is really insecure about who he is or where he is in his life. The sunglasses are a mask he hides behind, so no one sees his insecurities. It could also equate to someone being unable to see his own truths because he's put the mask on and blinded himself to his reality in the process.
