I really do hate the ending of apocrypha. I just don't agree with Sieg and Jeanne at all. I can't disagree any harder, in fact.

with what they believe re: amakusa, I mean

not the romance

if they said that mankind would become evil with immortality, sure, but that wasn't what would happen

and that's not what they said
Noodle Emperor

it was just garbage nonsense about how mankind would stop expanding
Noodle Emperor
and how dare you say that some ephemeral 'expansion' is worth torture and suffering and killing and rape of literally billions

Now Kiritsugu's wish was broken and couldn't work because of the grail
Noodle Emperor

but Shirou's would have

literally WHO CARES if humanity stops growing
Noodle Emperor

it doesn't mean anything if you can just skip the growth and get to the end result but save people doing it

no

it would have gotten pruned
feanor

like any deviation to the established panhistory no matter if it's good or bad gets pruned
feanor

it's not as goetia who actually was remaking the planet, amakusa was working within the world rules, his little experiment would have doomed that timeline
Noodle Emperor

Assuming that would happen - which is never stated anywhere in the apoc anime
Noodle Emperor

in the end...who cares?
Noodle Emperor
I'm against the pruning because it's abhorrent, but what you're saying is that 'everyone will die' but they'll all die anyway
Noodle Emperor
at least they'll get to experience a time where there is no pain or suffering for a while until it ends
Noodle Emperor
instead of one day reaching that level thousands to millions of years later and then dying out anyway
Noodle Emperor
if the end result is always the same, why allow the suffering in between?
Noodle Emperor

though to be fair

if changing things following the rules fails, then the answer is to break the rules and crush the system
Noodle Emperor

so if Amakusa won't work I'd just end up siding with Goetia
feanor

it's not as if they'll die, they'll stop existing
feanor
which is a bit worse than death
feanor
obviously Jeanne does care, she was sent to stop Amakusa in a way.
feanor

Amakusa had no frame or understanding, same as Kiritsugu, they were ignorant.
feanor

(and I like Amakusa more than Sieg, but I owed up to that)
feanor

there's absolutely no say there'll be death in the end, in fact humanity will strive to leave the world, the root or the planet if it threatens them but that's only if they ARE motivated to do it.

enlightenment state is kind of a thing

but one day they will die
Noodle Emperor

humanity will come to an end eventually
feanor

no
feanor

that's the thing
feanor

humanity will move out space
feanor

and after that or before that they'll move out the root or seek enlightening

gil and roman envisioned it.
