What are some things you've done to become a better texture-er?

(Besides the point of me creating on and off) I tend to feel like I am always struggling with the same things. I'm not sure how to improve this skill

So I'm trying to get clearer textures, but no matter how high I set my samples, they always come out very blurry-ish https://imgs.plurk.com/QuW/47R/2hYtCy6LS2cNvcttCB7bzcCRKxW_lg.png

experimentation is a lot of it, practice and figuring out what works for what you want, keeping an eye out for new techniques and playing around with them. for a lot of things i bake and work with the texture double size and then scale down when saving off my textures to import. i also often correct my textures in photoshop a bit.

Thanks Allegory ! So far that outlines my process exactly, I just always feel like everyone knows something I don't lol and thank you for that bake tip! I can't believe I didn't think to do that! I just reworked my textures for my current shoe to bake twice the size. I can't wait to see how it looks once scaled down ^.^

hellosolaris: a lot of it really does come down to experience- eventually you find the right tricks for _you_ to get what you are happier with. and experiment with _everything_, figure out how it works, because you might find something unexpected that's awesome.
