I just learned that two different species of harvester ants mate with each other in a kind of ant orgy. For mating to work, the females of both rough harvester ants and red harvester ants have to mate with males of both species at around the same time. The eggs fertilized by her own species of male can reproduce but don't work while the eggs fertilized
