honestly I'm REALLY into the "tony disappears as a child instead of getting kidnapped as an adult" conceit right now and a lot of these scratch that itch

I found some where he gets kidnapped as like a teenager or at the same time his parents die and it's terrible and great

(this all started with a really really great fic where Tony's in the car when Bucky kills his parents but he's like 4 and Bucky breaks his programming and goes on the run with Baby Tony and raises him)

concept: hydra finds out about the rings and learns about Howard's ring before gene or zhang do, and THEY crash the plane to get it

maybe Tony's the only one on board and they just take him as a bonus

then maybe we get a setup where gene offs zhang and takes over the tong and doesn't even know about the other rings

and doesn't find out about them till years later when hydra tips their hand on their makluan research

and then there's this three-way tug of war between hydra and the tong and shield and all sorts of secrets and questions about who's a good guy and who's a bad guy

HOHOHO maybe gene kidnaps Tony from hydra at some point because he's like "aight who is this fucker who's making all their tech and killing my henchmen"

aaand maybe Bucky is sent to get him back?? and Gene ends up figuring out who they both are from that and being like "WHAT IN THE FUCKENING IS GOING ON"
