CakeOrDeath

if you need a teller you go inside, but that's pretty frickin rare these days. Most banks just have drive thru ATMs

i'm going to start asking all my friends now
Does not exist in the UK, I was super SUPER weirded out when I first saw it in America

With apps and online and ATMs, I've only needed a teller a couple times in the last several years. Mostly for money orders and account changes.
(including drive thru ATMs)
CakeOrDeath

Nivaya: so you only have walk-in tellers, and walk-up ATMs?
Alice ♥
yeah but that's still fairly recent

what about BEFORE phones and apps

Wait.... this isn't a thing everywhere??? I thought it was standard. There's been a drive through teller in banks in Michigan for as long as I can remember.

I'm thinking that at some point we MUST have had them, too. I probably just wasn't paying attention back then. But for sure at least the last 20 years I've not seen one. For non-ATM things you've always had to go inside.
Alice ♥
but if you had them you'd have the infrastructure around still

well...yeah...not on sundays
CakeOrDeath

CakeOrDeath
i mean, do you live IN a church?
Alice ♥
no that's a puritan thing
Alice ♥
totally different
Alice ♥
like apparently
Alice ♥
we all know what indiana is famous for so
blue laws vary county to county but yeah. sometimes it's just a time frame in which alcohol can be purchased outside of a club or day of week (usually not on sunday on strict blue law counties)
within my county it varies city by city, so when the club closes in Clearwater I can't even buy at 7-11, I can drive 1 town up to a store in Dunedin and buy
CakeOrDeath
I think a time of day restriction is totally different than "can't buy on Sundays"
and then 3 towns up to another county to purchase past Dunedin's time frame but only until 2AM
CakeOrDeath
the Sunday thing is totally a religious puritan thing, nothing to do with safety or civic related thing
Most sunday laws are business to business and then like late afternoon on sunday but no getting a pack of natty light on sunday am cause you damn well know you should be in church if that's your drink of choice
For reference Natty light is usually what "A Florida Man" has been drinking when he hits the news
Alice ♥

lmao
that or the bath salts
so yeah regardless of personal religion choices that man needs some jesus
and tough blue laws

I know for a fact we've had them as long as I've been alive because I can remember they always put a sucker in the canister when they sent it back if there was a kid in the car. lol

But we also have the drive-thru ATMs now too in some locations. Those locations almost always still have drive-thru tellers though.
I am totally loving the drive up atms my bank has, takes cash with no deposit slip. just shove the money in and voila

Our banks here in western NY all have them if the location makes it possible.
they need to bring back full service gas stations - my number one hate for getting out of the car is pumping gas and also going inside to grab stuff - full service please

oh really? we have dt tellers almost everywhere here in Oregon
Nimil
we have them in VA, didn't realize this wasn't a thing everywhere
We tend to use the drive up teller more than the atm. it's faster because no line.

CA used to have them when I was growing up, but I don't remember seeing one in awhile. They were never quite the same with multiple lanes and air tubes and stuff though. Just a single lane drive up window.

Where they did have the air tubes were at Best stores.

A lot of them here are closed now but you can still go to the vacuum things and talk to the teller over a cam.

All of our banks have that.

Hell, most of our pharmacies have that style of pick up/drop off as well.
