There are lots of community type websites where it's (in general) a neutral platform. It's up to the users to set the tone.

But SL Secrets isn't like that.

It's geared and slanted towards stirring up shit.

Every single one of you is a potential target for having to either drop everything and defend your own personal honor, or suffer the backlash of false accusations.

I don't understand why there isn't more action to eliminate this disgusting, worthless, time wasting, piece of whatever it is.

I find it disgusting in this day and age that someone or some ones would do all the things required to run a site like that, knowing full well what it's being used for.

To me, it's the ultimate expression of human selfishness and greed when you create and support the destruction of lives just for money.

I dunno about that.

But trying to "get it taken down" isn't the right approach, either.

Ignoring it won't help you, because if the world thinks you're stealing models, that's going to affect your bottom line.

Only people who have not been targeted are able to say "just ignore it"

I feel like I now have to submit a counter-secret showing the proof that Wavie and I didn't use purchased mesh so that all the people who do read those secrets but don't have plurk will see it-

someone basically fucked with my income, and a bunch of people now believe that my work isn't my own, and that may impact my sales.

i don't WANT to submit something because that's adding to the cycle, but when my income is on the line over FAKE NEWS, i feel like i have to.

I just think interested parties would be motivated to find ways to make that site no longer worth it for the people running it.

we were just yesterday- wavie and i both plurked the proof to try and counter-act it, but i know that not everyone who reads that is on plurk, so now at least some people believe i purchase mesh models, when i absolutely don't and never have.

I don't want to suggest anything untoward, but signal to noise ratio is very important for sites like that.

we work hard and because one person majorly fucked up and tried to lie about it, now we're all under scrutiny.

Thing is, being frustrated by it, ignoring it, yelling about it, "reporting them", etc, etc, none of these accomplish anything. The only thing that matters to them is their bottom line, which comes from ads, which comes from traffic, which comes from content.

I am not so sure how positive the SL community really is to be honest. I ha e been burned by many people who I thought were friends/good people when I did nothing to deserve it. I think SL can bring out the worst in people. Don’t get me wrong it’s not all bad but people are going to believe the worst because “so and so” said so.

Yes and now I am very careful of who I let into my bubble because you just never know.

I am a creator but not the kind that these people focus on thankfully (combat weapons) but I have seen my friends targeted by the site and I despise that site and the two who run it. They said they are willing to take it down, but they want cash, enough cash to buy a new car. Which is basically holding it for ransom in my opinion.

It also says to me they know full well what they are doing and what the site does to people if they want that much money to get rid of it.

Well I am sorry that this sort of thing is happening to people. It is nothing but bullying. I have read some of the stuff on there and I just can't image how some of you cope with it when they are after you week after week.
