I heard from about 2 people that it would be something they would enjoy. It would be super low maintenence though, much like the old-school sandboxes where you could just join a comm and get on with it
there was a Bleach sandbox I used to belong to back in the day that worked like that
,,,, 10 years ago or so. I feel old.
I think it would be fairly easy to pull off
It appears to be just a matter of deleting a bunch of things and modifying others, tbh
perhaps time consuming but not difficult
Would you be deleting all the old posts and threads? Or would the new plan be compatible with the old material?
/slides in here yes hello I am hella interested
https://www.plurk.com/ta... that is a good questio'n and one I am not fully able to answer right now. I wouldn't plan on deleting old posts, but as for compatability I'm still working on it. It would be shitty to undermine anything people have done, I just have to figure it out.
like, I would probably have to clear the comms and have people re-join to keep it fresh, but I can't find a reason to "reset" anyone's experience there.
because... it won't be monitored anyway, it would be like what they used to call "dressing rooms" basically, with a tweak here or there.
the idea is that you'd just kind of go in and do your thing, with a few standard "don't be an ass" rules
I think I'd pretty much base it on the dressing room format of old. idk what happened to those - did the term evolve into sandbox?
but with lots of things on the honor system
dressing rooms are still around, so far as I know
I'm hearing the term sandbox more often these days than dressing room.
I think the dressing room sites are mostly pretty large sites, with people posting rapidly, producing a huge number of threads. The mods post meme-like events and people respond. At least, that's what it was like when I last posted into one.
And no apps. People just join the community and then do whatever they please.
It sounds like what you have in mind is closer to a musebox.
Unless you were planning to have regular mod-generated events.
Anyway, I have to think about the mod gig. But I'd need to hear about what kind of game/musbox/sandbox/etc. you have in mind, before I can figure out whether I can mod.
Agreed with
tangyminx, I'd have to think on the modding thing. I'm not sure I'm the best person for modding. At least not now. It really would depend on how things would work, but it's sounding pretty chill for players and mods
lenneths_wings: Although you should take credit for taking on the position, Tracy! Also, you're a nice person and that's always good in a mod.
But anyway, yeah, we'd like to know more about what A.M. will look like when it's reopened.
Actually, it was never closed. lol
yeah i am still working things out but it doesnt mean things cant be changed with input either
but the general idea is to not have much mod involvement other than making sure everbody behaves
marcuswolf828: Coming back late on this. (Aug. 26) I was going to suggest that for now, you might want to just leave everybody on the comms who is still there.
Like I said, Tracy and I never actually took anybody off after you left.
If the time comes that you want to reopen the game, or just allow it to be used for a musebox, then it might be useful to just contact everybody and invite them back. Instead of requiring everyone to re-app.
And for now, question? Can people who were never removed post into A.M. in the present? Was thinking of posting a reunion post for characters who are interested.
forst question, the plan was not to have apps at all. second question, i dont see why not.
i have been poking at it for a bit, and i wanted a bit more time before i decided but signs are pointing to "its not a good idea" for me at the moment.
I could be a mod if one is needed?
I've modded a dressing room before...a game would probably be beyond me at the moment but a sandbox I could do.
I'd be down for anybody helping out, really
if you guys want to reboot it as a unstructured sandbox I think it would be fairly simple to set it up, the only thing you'd have to do is approve people to the comms. Like, check if it's an actual RP account before adding them, basically
just fyi i haven't forgotten about this, it might be next weekend I get back to it but I'll try to include relevant parties in a PP to discuss possible things
