i feel tat if you can push yourself to go and get a workout, you can push yourself to maximise that workout itself

how do you know when you've got a good work out? when you can't move anymore?

for me, when my hand starts to shake when i hold a drink just after the workout, then i know its a good one (a little extreme, but good)

i stop when i can't do any more, as in I can't even do another push up

but then i realize the next day, i'm not very sore or i can move normally

then maybe rest for a little while longer, then start lighter weights, more reps to tone

most of the time ppl will push at the beginning of their session, so they'll lift d heavier weights, building muscle.....

so towards the end, when ur tired of lifting heavy, lift lighter and more reps to tone

but generally if you have been going regularly, it should be no problem for u 2 slowly extend your gym hours by 15 mins or 30 mins each time

so heavy x3 sets (10 - 12 per set) then after that light x3 sets (12 - 15 per set)? I did something like that yesterday though
