So, what really bothers me about Discovery is what feels like a disregard for established canon

particularly when it comes to the Sarek family drama, because like... okay it's one thing to disregard factual science / timeline stuff, but to mess with characters who many fans already have a connection to feels... inconsiderate

But Okay, here's the deal, I know Spock is supposedly coming in next season

I will forgive a lot, if there is some sort of call back and explaination to the Sybok situation. Because okay - if you're going to unravel so much backstory, at least tie together some peices while you're at it so that the whole thing doesn't come apart

Give us some more information about Sybok, or at least mention him, and I can forgive some stuff

And... okay so I know novels aren't "canon" but some are written with the understanding that these subjects would not be explored again - so the book "Sarek" by AC Crispin, I believe was written with the intention of filling in backstory.

Like... yes, the novels aren't canon, but some novels do skirt the line of canon for a good number of fans

Aside from that, ignoring the novel
