as I should have expected, that was way more complicated than predicted

apparently when my driver door got repaired they replaced the part that had some important manufacturer VIN sticker that they can't complete the registration without

which baffles me because there are VIN stickers all over the fuckin car idk why they needed that one specifically

and why did the repair shop remove it if it's that important??

so I have to go get my car inspected by highway patrol

for which there is a month wait

which screwed my plans to apply for a california license because I was gonna use my car registration as my proof of residence since my living situation is weird and none of my other docs qualify...

fortunately they said all I need is a change of address confirmation from USPS so I did that online and it should come in about a week

which means I'll get the license before the registration gets changed over, I guess

seems bass ackwards to me but what do I know

on the bright side everyone there was very pleasant so it wasn't a frustrating visit, just... confusing
