Anything by supergiant games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre)

hhhhhrghhh....bastion was so good and such a good soundtrack. I havent ever played transistor though. >:C...

Obsidian's got some games with really good stories if you're into D&D-style RPGs (Planescape: Torment, the Pillars of Eternity series). Expect a lot of reading but the writing is excellent.

I'm fine with reading!! I generally like something that's pretty forgiving in game play (so...not dark souls) but with great narrative.

you'd probably like those games then-- they give you the option of talking your way out of fights as opposed to simply decimating everything in your path

shadowrun hong kong i'd definitely recommend if you're more the story type

i'm Pretty Fucking Bad at those kinds of games but i still managed to get through fine

Valiant Hearts is also a very good puzzle/adventure game in which you play through the stories of four separate characters during World War 1

older, pixely supernatural ghost mystery games that totally ruin your heart it's great

Disgaea (the first game), if you haven't played it yet. It's on steam now

there's sequel games but the first one still stands out to me
