i feel the need to disclaimer: the first campaign started being broadcast after theyd been playing, on a different system, for about three years, and also just as some intense drama centered around the dude who plays tiberius being kind of a shit person was coming to light, which leaks into the first bit of cr1

all of that makes starting from the beginning make it kinda... hard to get into

but once you get past that drama cr1 is incredible

should I start with another season?

if you start with campaign 2, you get introduced to the characters at the same time as the players, and they all start at level 2, and the production values are much better, so it just is overall easier to get into to start with

its still worth going back and listening/watching to the first campaign though! id just hate for someone to be turned off of it entirely because of cr1's rocky start like i almost was

because i also tried to start with cr1 and was struggling until i on a whim was like ykw lets see what campaign 2 is about and thats when i got hooked on the whole show

i ended up skipping some early cr1 episodes entirely because my anxiety couldnt take the palpable real life drama between players

yeah campaign 1 was...definitely very difficult to get through at certain points

cr2 the players seem to have a way better grasp of their characters and the rules of the game as a whole

cr1 is still GOOD, but cr2 is definitely better

yeah when they started the first campaign it was their literal first time playing dnd 5e LMAO aside from matt

and I will say the characters is cr2 are a bit better developed and seem to show their growth WAY better than those in cr1
