I can't tell if the plot is good since I'm still pre-timeskip and I'm in the less heavy-handed route, and so far it's been stuff like "these guys are causing problems, please send your band of teens and young adults to take care of that shit" and no sight of plotlines yet beyond someone fucking shit up

I DO know a lot of big spoilers and everything I've read is WTF but well, it's a Fire Emblem and a JRPG so

you're basically paying for dumb twists and suddenly dragons, and praying it's not that bad

even if there's a lot of things to do in the game outside of battle, you get used to it soon. at some point you'll be finishing all the monastery stuff the first week or two, leaving you without anything to do during the rest of the month. so don't worry about the overwhelming Professor Simulator part

building units is trial and error but it's alright to make mistakes about the classes because you can come back to every class you've unlocked for a character and you keep your level for weapons/abilities

if anything else fails, you can recruit someone from another house! there's an easy exploit method to cheese recruiting

I'm slowly stealing all the kids from the black eagles that look neat

most of the characters are charming. or at least they're varied enough that you're guaranteed to find several students to love and get attached to. I'm Golden Deer and they're for the most part adorable. I have filed so many child custody forms just in my house

this game is dangerous, the gameplay is oddly addictive. you just keep wanting to play a bit longer. on Saturday I wanted to play just one free monastery day around midnght, and suddenly it was almost 5:00 am. Y I K E S

"ah but there's a fight now so I'll just finish the battle. oh okay, a cutscene. let's let it end. wait, I unlocked supports! now let me check if I can promote... FUCK IT, I'll finish the free day!" and so on

anyway, that's more or less my review. plot is likely bananas, but lore is decent, plenty of characters can be lovable, and both parts of the gameplay can be addictive
