gene hunt - absolutely 100% not ever, and he would be deeply insulted to find out that he couldn't and never accept that it was because of his own flaws

roland deschain - no. ilu roland, but, no. no.

hank anderson - I'm not going to say for sure, but I like to think he'd have a decent chance at it. He wants to help people on a deep level and he's willing to fight for that, even if he's less able to than he used to be.

connor - nah. my idea of how the hammer works is that it needs a sort of warrior type who has their own strong moral code based on helping people, and though Connor's empathy is an important part of his character, the way I figure it his morality centers a lot on who he considers an authority figure.

even in the canon he rejects amanda's ideology only once a different authority figure gives him messages that empathy is okay. also he tends too much toward rationalizing terrible acts if an authority figure/cause tells him it's ok or for the greater good (these reasons are similar to why I rejected Roland for it, minus the authority thing)

gene would hate that hammer and badmouth it at every single opportunity for literally the rest of his life. doesn't it know how incredible he is? magic hammers are dumb anyway, everyone knows that. see, all the people i surround myself with who agree with my every comment think so too
