for those who don't know, hello, my name is Squish, and I am a relatively new DM of about 3 months.

>:C I play with a legit party of 5 players (by character name): Bethany, Ivan, Van, Manus, and Stewart.

Ivan and Bethany are married and live about 45 minutes from us, and because Bethany's parents are somewhat religious and she's very family oriented, they are usually busy on the weekend with family time...so we arrange one time a month to meet up and play.

and the reception to my game has been amazing. Everyone is having a lot of fun, and participating, and....man. It is the dream. And I'm having fun making these worlds, and life is good.

yesterday, I was approached by my hubs, Stewart, and Manus, my roommate, and they were asking if we could meet us sooner than once a month.

because they're having fun and MAN WHAT A TREAT AND YAY AND >:C I'M SO PLEASED

I told them about beth and ivan, and how they're kind of committed to once every other week, and I said I could ask them if they were okay with doing every other week? But...I just. I gotta make it fair for everyone, and I don't want people to feel like they missed out on a session if they legitimately can't make it :C

if we plan in advance, then worst case scenario is someone has an emergency and we could take a sub-plot route, which I am mostly prepared for...

but Manus and Stewart both said "If you think you could handle it, then...maybe we could have a smaller, second game on the side?"

they want to meet every other week or so.

which....i might be able to do? Idk. It would be a test for me as well.

like a Thousand Year Door aspect. "Behold, the Thousand Year Door, and a treasure that has been hidden for over 1,000 years."

which I think would be really fun. We also discussed the idea of everyone being a bard?

but I'm thinking maybe...maybe the pit of 100 trials. Hints about what the treasure could be.

that sounds pretty low maintenance and maybe that's what I would need.

and I wasn't sure what I had planned for her, but I'm thinking that she'll somehow disconnect from the party at some point. She and the Captain of their ship, Percius, to seek their own answers together.

(Percius is an Awakened Dog, and a Very Good Boy.)

but the area that you'll be fighting in is on a different plane. Characters are in some sort of limbo, be in in deep sleep, or death.

the draw of the trials is that the characters all seek themselves. They arrive without their memories, and have no sense of self. No soul. No purpose. And when you have nothing, your body, your mind...they crave the fulfillment that comes with having a memory. Having something that gives you a name, and your purpose.

so it can be inferred that everything they fight also is this way. Even the animals.

so killing them, in this situation, can be seen as a release of some sort.

for the badgers, and for the characters.
