or that place where Bugs Bunny should have turned left
tbf we were "the second Hollywood" for a few blissful moments in the late 2000s also, but i think associations with meth still weigh that out
OH or for those more inclined, BALLOON FIESTA
the town I live in now (no one has heard of it) is also known for meth
there was even a book written about it
LOL plurk just showed me your response and that's my favorite now
i feel like meth isn't as big of an issue where i'm from as people think it is based on the show tbf
I think meth is maybe more of a small town thing
I don't know why I think that
I know for mine it was because it was in the middle of nowhere with old shacks and empty spaces to make it and hide from the cops.
the town I grew up in also apparently had (has) a meth problem, but that could be because it's pretty much halfway between Chicago and Minneapolis on I-90/94
well Albuquerque is unique in the sense that even though it's a city, it's very spread out and has communities that are more akin to small towns. not to mention new mexico itself is basically just patches of small towns
and there is a lot of addiction problems on the reservations unfortunately. i'd have to take some time to look at the demographics of what affects who and where
though small towns do historically have bigger problems with larger addictions like meth in general. sythetic drugs are also hugely pocketed to small towns rather than big cities, where people assume there would be more of it
so it makes complete sense that you'd relate meth to small towns because they really do struggle with drug problems. i read a really interesting article about it in wapo a few years ago, it was pretty sad
there was a whole book written about this town and meth
people keep stealing it from the library
every so often we'll look on the shelf and yep, the book is missing again
Focus on the Family. Sorry, everyone.
