all our make up is all-natural, eco-friendly, gluten-free, and vegan. it's a small, woman-run company out of baltimore staffed by literally four people (and i'm one of them!)
we made the majority of our colors in house and i work on the retail end so chances are anything you order, i've put it together.
we also have really amazing lipsticks (vegan and gluten-free), lip glosses (gluten-free), and lip glaze colors (vegan and gluten-free). all hand-made. plus tons of other things including concealors, lip cremes, eyeliners... we got it all
if anyone has any questions about stuff i can definitely answer them, or if you need help finding a good foundation match etc, i can definitely get you hooked up for an over-email consultation (or in person if you're in town!)
okay I have a question... what is lip glaze and how is it different then gloss
good question! 1) The glaze base is a different formula than our gloss base, so it's not quite as thick when applied, 2) The lip glaze is vegan whereas the gloss is not, and 3) we use less pigment in the glaze, so it gives more of a hint of a translucent color, rather than the heavier color you get with the lipsticks and glosses
both the gloss and glaze bases offer really nice coverage and are very moisturizing (and they taste amazing), so it was mostly a way for us to offer a vegan alternative as well as a more understated lip color line for people who don't want pops of color, especially when it comes to our darker shades
we're also going to be launching a cbd line at some point this year and let me tell you, your lips have not known heaven until you've tried a cbd glaze. i've been using one of our testers and my lips are so happy.
oohh okay. that's awesome :3
how does your mineral foundation go? when I tried bare minerals for a hot minute I had to use like 3 powders to color and look natural and it looked nice but took forever. what's the process for this one, primer, contour, toss and go (hopefully)?
our mineral foundations are really straight forward. you don't have to use any primer if you don't want to (we don't even sell it) though we do sell setting powders. but it really is just a powder and go. we offer a loose mineral foundation or a loose mineral foundation concealer, which is a little heavier and will give you more coverage
(plus of course, liquid matte, cream, and moose foundations in all our colors if you want something with more coverage and moisture, but those aren't part of this sale unfortunately)
now when it comes to color matching, it can be a process but we actually offer a lot of help! we have sample towers, which are 4-5 sample sizes of pre-grouped foundation colors which match certain shades of skin. you can mix those and play with them until you find a balance you like, or you might find that just one color matches your skin fine
once you've figured that out, we offer a couple options. the first is you can get a foundation with a refill kit, and the refill can be a different color from the foundation. so if, say, you're complexion is a mixture of Paula and Claire, you can get a Paula foundation and a Claire refill and then mix them in whatever way works for you!
the other option is, since we hand make everything anyway, we do offer custom mixes. so if you find maybe 2-3 colors that can go together and want them all in one jar, you just give us the formula that works for you and we mix it all together and ship it you. i believe there may be a surcharge for custom mixes though, i'd have to ask my boss
but we're really customer service oriented and it's super important to us that make-up be fun and pressure-free, so we try to offer options that will help people get long-term matches without a ton of hassle or having to buy 3 or 4 expensive, full-sized foundations just to finagle one into working
hopefully that helps and answers your question?
make sense. ngl mixing powders sounds scary
I'm curious but I could try the light-medium since I assume that's where I am
but then what to get for the bogo :|a
it does sound scary but i've learned just to do it slowly and keep swatching until you get what you're going for
check out our versatile powders (you can literally use them for anything - eyeshadow, blush, lip color, hilights, all the things), or we have bronzers, setting powders,
is there anything you can think of specifically and i can maybe hunt down some options for you?
haha im looking at the versatile powders and "team colors" has a bright purple thumbnail and im laughing
Yes!!! Those are straight up our Ravens colors we just can't use the name 😂
so im mainly in the market for an easy foundation because i feel like my face could use the help. it looks like there are all kinds of weird samples you also get with a sampler set so that would be cool i can put some powders in. would you recommend i get a setting powder as my other BOGO?
like im thinking i might try some wacky colors of the versatile powders that i dont have as my 6 samples with the set but im trying to figure out what would go best with the actual mission of finding a foundation
i would definitely recommend a setting powder. i personally love having a setting powder in general, and on days when i feel like my skin is really behaving and/or i don't want to bother with actual foundation, it's nice to dust on real quick
and it's actually really good for you to have something on your face to help absorb oils and protect your skin from particles, etc, so i've found setting powders can be a really nice alternative to foundation as well as using with it
and yes try some of the wacky colors as your samples! we have so many cool colors and free samples are the best opportunity to try something you wouldn't buy otherwise
ok cool. setting powder it is
now i have no idea which one
like i think im definitely light-medium as far as the samplers go, im white obv but i have yellow undertones
so idk if going angel on the setting powder would go full yellow too hard
there's no photo for serecite is that one uncolored?
it's uncolored! and thanks for pointing that out, we're working on getting some of the website pictures fixed so i'll add that to my list
i figured since it didnt call out a "if you wear x y and z" like the others it was probably the "idk make it not suck?" option
i'm tempted to say you might like petal more then because it might balance the yellow a bit? but i use petal and it's a bit much for me, i have red undertones. i'm actually going to try silica next too because my skin tends to be kind of oily
i could try angel? yeah i have like no red but also if you go too yellow i look like a bad racist cartoon
i am very olive in all my undertones but i am not dark
ahaha yeah both the silica and the serecite are the uncolored ones, silica is more drying than serecite though
so when i do figure this out i buy my set of foundation then in the comments im like HI BEX HERE ARE MY SAMPLES and HI BEX HERE IS MY BOGO?
i think angel could totally work too. the color isn't as apparent as in foundations obviously so it shouldn't swing your skin too much in any horrible directions
which ill probably do tomorrow because im sleepy and i need to look at Colors
LMFAO i definitely process and pack orders so i will tooootes know that it is you
and the sale is through monday so you have plenty of time to decide
but okay so procedure is 1) figure out colors, 2) just order the sample set, 3) write a novel in the comments for everything else?
im excited this will be a journey into alchemy and my bathroom sink will probably look like that one scene from Scareface
*scarface even but it will scare you
and if you have any questions you can always e-mail us too. and if you still aren't sure about angel when you can definitely mention it in the notes and i can ask my boss if she thinks the more yellow or less is a better call? totally up to you though
(the nice thing about working for a tiny company is we can help our customers on a more one-on-one level)
LOL i am excited for this new foray of yours
and i'm so happy to hopefully be able to help you find a color you are happy with that isn't a pain in the ass for you to figure out!
hopefully yeah and hopefully it likes my skin and hangs out on it
i dont want to be like doing Foundation as a huge thing when im doing make up i try to be fast but it would be nice to just look a little more even and put together
definitely, and that's the nice thing about just being able to find a color or combination of colors and just stick with it
and our foundations are so easy to use and straightforward, plus they last for like ever
hey everybody else make bex money ok? ok.
yay i'm so excited for you I hope you really love our make up :3
fyrefly: did you want samples for anything else? my boss said I could send you some more samples if there was anything else you wanted to try, like the other setting powders or bronzers or anything
maybe a sample of whatever setting powder I don't get? I don't tend to do bronzers
idk whatever if you're bored and want to throw something my way I won't say no
sounds good i'll send you all the setting powders. will talk to boss today about if she thinks angel is good for you
"hey oh yeah that package is for me it's my rainbow cocaine"
Lol it's a lot of rainbow cocaine
The consensus was serecite is probably the best for your tone, so we're sending you a full sized serecite and samples of everything else. Boss said if you end up being unhappy with the serecite and want the angel we'll replace it for you
so much customer service its scary
lol this is how we roll. we're a small company and we want our customers to be happy with what they buy
it's really great when you're a small company and can do that sort of thing for your customer base. I wish any size company could do that. and I guess they could, but after a point, it just gets to be such a wide net, I think, it's a lot harder to be that personalized with them.
But this is like amazing levels of customer service and man, if I was ever even wearing make up these days I'd be throwing money at y'all
loyalwolf: we really try. we've been around for 20 years and offering natural, affordable make up and having a close relationship with our patrons has always been really important to my boss
if you are ever in need, hit me up! we also have lotions for different skin types and really nice natural unscented soaps
