I probably spend too much of my monthly budget on food but also, eating is great and I don't want to change
latest #35
I just ate a spinach and mushroom quiche. I feel like a winner in tonight’s dinner sweepstakes.
Eating is fantastic (although: I am personally mad that I have had to cut stuff from my diet due to Ailments™️).

my food vices aren't eating out or delivery fees it's that I refuse to substitute pancetta for guanciale

I am eating a lamb + fennel stew with fried bread & preserved lemons and it's pretty tasty
That sounds really good

I had a lot of the ingredients already and I used lamb necks instead of shoulder due to cheapness but like, if I were the most responsible person I would have made something cheaper

ngl when we got to a point where, in Junabi's words, "we could buy real bakery bread without worrying about having enough for a bill" was a breakthrough. it's nice to be able to afford bakery bread. and guanciale.

I just refuse to tolerate inferior bread, haha. Like the financial advice to cut out the $5 lattes— that's me, except with olive oil.
a cursed bird.

but I think in general things like $5 lattes or paid accounts are, like, not worth getting mad about. if you can drastically improve your life experience with $5, you shouldn't feel ashamed about it.
^ this is how i feel about it

for real
if you're enjoying your life and having great food, esp food you've cooked, man, i don't see why you should change that
if its something you genuinely enjoy and aren't dangerously unhappily going broke bc of it, then just enjoy that thing
plus everyone has their thing

yeah, if you can truly limit your excessive spending to one category, that is an accomplishment

yeah
Yeah, I have a paid premium (not expensive for my most consistent hobby: you’d spend more on acrylic yarn if you knit/crocheted for the same amount of time as I spend tagging) and a lot of food restrictions that make me have to spend a bit, but I don’t spend a lot on media aside from Netflix/Hulu.
New video games, going to the movies/buying BluRays, etc. So it’s ok. And other people really value getting a new console when it comes out and primarily game as entertainment, and that’s ok too.

jfhaskjdhaf yeah yarn spending is sure a thing, I've seen it
I was really into yarn stuff before I got into RP, and I still have a lot of yarn, but it gets expensive.
Beads, too. God. Beads are $$$.

i was super into beads when I was a tween, all my allowance went into bead buying
I have like... artisan focal beads bought from bead shows for $50+/each (NOT RECENTLY). I’m an idiot who will never get that money back. (To spend on paids and gluten-free potstickers.)
