i'd pick different ones for favorites but it's widely accepted that i am actually a cat, and then early america / the ancient world with a questionable historiographic legacy is like, also my thing
witch of blackbird pond!!!
I'm using a loose definition of witch, here
mostly "woman who reads too much" is the definition I identify with
less a witch than a scholar, yeah
the witch of blackbird pond is also not about witchcraft, but, the dangers of bright frocks and female literacy
I was wondering if I maybe missed some early christian scholars calling hypatia of alexandria a witch, bc I do not really read early christian scholars generally
but I feel like the salem witches weren't witches either, but much of the modern reclaiming of the label takes the persecution of the non-conformist female as a kind of identity
there is also a significant 19th century and later recasting of hypatia as the first victim of a (literal) witch hunt
yes I was also wondering about the 19th century
I, too, am a font of historical revisionism
i'm struggling with a third witch
most witches are too cool
I struggle not doing all harry potter or all discworld
if i have one cool witch i need two witches who are in some way embarrassing to balance it out
it's also like, if I put down a bunch of cool characters everyone will think that's how I see myself
but really I relate to zatanna bc she has bangs and the energy of having been to therapy
