what exactly is going on with the DC timeline?
all i know is SPN is now canon in the DC timeline.
i feel like that's the only concrete thing that can be said.
I understand pre-crisis, post-crisis, and the nu52
although I didn't stick around long enough in nu52 to get all the ~reveals~ there
is watchmen in the dc universe now? why?
that's an honest question
i know the sandman series is dc canon now
no, watchmen was originally supposed to be a 12 issue maxiseries and not
There was another big cosmic reset to undo Nu52- sorta, ish. They did a thing to bring back a bunch of characters that were retgoned by Nu52 but not completely erase Nu52 and its a mess.
I remember with New 52 everyone got deaged and the timeline was shortened so that it was like… everyone has been a hero for 5 years or so
are they still trying that
Following the 2011 reboot of the DC comics universe, Wally West appears to have never existed. A seemingly new interpretation of Wally West was introduced in The Flash Annual #3.
Originally portrayed as the New 52 version of the classic and original character and the biracial son of Rudy West, this biracial Wally, named Wallace West in later comics, was retconned in DC Rebirth #1 as being the cousin of Wally West, and the son of the New 52 Reverse Flash, Daniel West.
when rebirth started, jonathan kent, who was the son of lois and clark who were hiding out in n52 ? but weren't public ?? bc they were originally from the original timeline and got ported into n52 when the weird thing with the tiny cities fighting ended
Both cousins are explained as having been named after their great-grandfather.
got kidnapped by mister myxlplyx, right. and then something with n52 lois and clark and original lois and clark. and he was mad that his parents got taken away so he merged the two somehow i dont remember and then the n52 timeline and the original timelines got mildly merged
im explaining this badly bc i havent slept in two days this is what you get
i've been here since 1993. i could not tell you
so some of n52 is still canon but some of it was retconned and some of preboot is canon and some of it was retconned
so it's basically "everything is canon that we want to be"
why did they need events to do that, we wonder

here is wallace west as mentioned and the (mostly humorous) canon reference to SPN in this panel.
Nu52: We figure we should simplify things so we are going to recon everything to a reasonable time frame. Then ruin that by fucking up several really good plots/characters by making them not exist.
Rebirth: We are going to yeet simple out the window and just make a fucking mess.
that's why i was really just joking when i said all i can concretely say is SPN is now dc canon lmao.
but a baby punched through the timelines because some weird leprechaun kidnapped him and took away his parents
superboys always punching time
but to clarify there's still no oracle
they can still retcon everything but the killing joke, it seems
it's part of their calling card by now
I will still never understand the choices made regarding Babs in Nu52.
"We want her as Batgirl again so instead of retgoning Killing Joke we'll just- have her recover from being paralyzed because fuck it we're comics."
yeah, it's the fact that they clearly wanted Babsgirl and the Killing Joke
Supernatural being a show in DC canon isn't the same as it being DC canon, right...
medieval: lol yes, i was being facetious bc DC is too ridiculous.
I mean technically Supernatural is a book series in Supernatural's own show so... it could still be canon in DC.
that's a fair point ajlkfjg
they're well-matched tbh.
my general mindset with DC is there really isn't ever an actual timeline due to 1) writers, and 2) speedsters. i give up.
You forgot 3) Superboy punches
i feel like 3 got their moves from 2 so, related. but yes, fair.
Oh a new event is happening, basically, to chime in with Doomsday Clock, which is altering the timeline again.
