Played a game on FB where I list six pets I've had and one I didn't; said I had a hermit crab named Sheldon. Got accused of suggesting Sheldon from Big Bang Theory is autistic.

that's my thinking, also, either they were trying to be funny and didn't make their tone clear, or they're on the lookout for things to obviously misinterpret so they clutch pearls
.........also even if you were why would they blame you for that when people on the show have admitted he comes off that way and that they only haven't called it that officially because they "don't want to pathologize the characters" which I'm 99% sure means "don't want to get in trouble for representing them badly"
