unfortunately my plan for having this much money was to open a new investing account but that's really not fun and I want to buy clothes instead
I got mine too! May and June rent are going to covered by it.
apparently what i got today was my stimulus check and also my state return so i'm waiting on federal return so that's nice lol
they were a little delayed because Trump wanted to put his name on it
I haven't gotten tax return money in years because of a mistake I made filing my taxes in my early twenties but I guess that mistake is finally paid off
and then immediately was like, ah, this will be for moving
hah ha, yeah, "now I can pay my bill" is what I am seeing a lot of
mine has arrived and I will probably use it to pay down debt
yeah we are sitting on ours just in case
knock on wood we can use it later for something frivolous but i'd rather have the cash on hand in case either of us wind up furloughed since the fl unemployment system is a nightmare
I think I might buy myself one or two things and sit on the rest.
also since this is already a financial woes plurk I am like… actually using my credit cards for once in my life (for contactless payment reasons) and it makes me feel like I'm budgeting dangerously
but you know I can probably actually just pay it all off right now, instead of waiting until next month??? I'm very bad at credit cards
supposedly it is good for your credit to wait until the next billing cycle to pay it off but honestly i don't see mine adjust that much whether i do or not
I can't imagine it will like, tank my credit
i have paid mine at a mix of same cycle as purchase vs billing cycle when it is due in the years i've had my card and my credit line has gone up twice in like 5 years but i couldnt tell you... what helped that along bc its such a mix lmao

my credit line is already absurd for the amount of money I make and the scope of my desired purchases
I'm very skeptical of the idea of credit cards… so I never use them. Eventually I got one b/c you need to "have credit"
yeah thats why i got one, to help build my credit lmao. i only ever use it when i know i can pay it off
but I'd rather bury gold in my yard
yeah I just used it at gas stations so that would only run me $30 a month or so, very easy, and so it feels weird to use it more than that, even if I'm just buying groceries
this is exactly how I feel about credit cards lmao
that I would have to buy anyway……
my brain isn't built to budget for imaginary money
but it's irresponsible to make people handle cash if you have a contactless pay option
once a cashier who was obviously instructed to upsell the store credit card asked me why I didn't want a store credit card
and I said something like "because money is illusory and I don't trust it or myself"
which was honest but also I feel badly for that cashier…
retail stores with store credit cards, it's such a garbage set up
when i worked for the gap in college they would ask store employees at the end of the night if they wanted to sign up for a card if we hadn't hit store quota that day
lol this is 900% how i feel about credit cards
guess i need credit but also don't really want it
I AM GLAD PLURK UNDERSTANDS ME
I've already advised some people who don't immediately need the money and are thinking of paying off debts with it to at least wait until things have calmed down a little, just to be safe
yeah, the other thing about my "responsible investment plan" is that, well, gestures
so I have to think about my savings goals some
or I could buy a bunch of gold and bury it in the yard
(just kidding I'd forget I had buried gold in the yard)
