did I ever actually play this?
did you mean: first 5 hrs of ff7
I have like, 6 copies of FFIV in my box of old video games

sausages I am avoiding spoilers, wow
i haven't actually beat it myself so idk the full coverage but i'm like 13 hrs in and still pretty early
I definitely put it down and played the avoidance game for like a month at the end tho
I genuinely miss printed manuals
they did the high quality renders here
I remember buying Suikoden 1 used and it didn't come with a manual and when I contacted Konami someone sent me a big manila envelope with decent quality xerox of the manual
READING THE MANUAL WAS AN IMPORTANT PART OF BUYING A NEW GAME OK
also i got the deluxe edition just for an artbook so i'd have printed materials
behold these relics of the before times
oh my god I used to collect guides
I just liked reading them, I was a weird kid
I literally have two bookshelves full of such guides
I lost them all in a move
my parasite Eve and ff8 ones were falling apart because I played those games so many times
I still buy them sometimes. I will say that the FF13 official guide? best designed strategy guide I have ever had the pleasure of using
the true treasure would be the "Final Fantasy III" guide I remember vividly but don't have anymore
re: ff7 remake,it won't let you pet the cats so 0/10 from me
every two-facing-pages was a complete set unto itself, no flipping back and forth to get to the map vs the text
I wonder if I never really owned it and just looked at my grandma's
well-bound, well laid out, clear font, good use of visual design
No spoilers and all the data I actually wanted and needed, clearly referenced side quests section
I might still have my ME3 guide which is huge and half artbook
that was a guide made by people who use guides
i have the infamous ff9 guide
Remember how FF2 and FF3 on SNES came with half a strategy guide in the manual?
royaltimes so do I, and I wrote a guide and posted it on my website, and I still get emails about once a month thanking me for it
it's the only one i still have
when I submitted my guide to RPGamer the guy wrote me back like "oh my god, do you have more we can post?"
the FF3 guide (that was really FFVI guide) was I think my first intro to Amano art
the real question is where are my SNES cartridges? does my brother have them?
i remember the lunar games had the best guides ever because they were filled with dumb jokes and side commentary ...
but ah, i also used to love collecting these
the ff9 guide was the most useless fucking thing
I have a TON of old guides of FF and Tales Of games and some other things. I used to love them
demonology: I still have my deluxe copy of eternal blue with the mini guide
it sure was ... i'm glad that we're all still mad about that ffix guide
i used to have a bunch of old copies of nintendo power, but the only one i remember was the lttp feature
also I'm salty about how little of the original game this entire 30 hour game "remake" is
give me! the whole game! you capitalist assholes!
WEEPS, i wish there was a good re-release of those games ... i miss them so much
I actually liked the psp silver Star but I wish it'd release on switch 😩
i remember for a while you could get a lot of money for ps1 ff7 before the billion rereleases came out lmfao
it'd be a perfect switch game
by the time i finally bought a copy of ff7 it was a greatest hits rerelease
it wouldn't shock me if the original printing still goes for a lot
I am surprised I have PS1 FFVII with the original packet and the original version and all
it does have a big crack in the case, though
johanssons: i heard mixed things about it so i never played it but yeah... switch releases would be so nice
those jewel cases were real fragile
and yeah lmao my ps1 games were all cracked to hell ... sad
I have all four discs of FFVIII but the FFV part of my "Final Fantasy Anthology" set is missing
it was pretty faithful to the original, in terms of gameplay but they relocalized it so it wasn't the same that way, and I think that turned a lot of people off
yeah that's more or less what i heard ...
i sold my copy of anthology on ebay a long time ago
it didn't bother me, personally, because I expected that considering working designs is kaput, but I can understand why it'd bug others
anyway anthology was the worst release of ffv
I'm sad we never got eb psp
people are down on the mobile/steam version but it's honestly fine
the worst part is all faris' jobs got super feminized
weren't the GBA ports the best ones?
yeah I have GBA FFV but not FFVI
the mobile/steam ffv is pretty much the gba one with new graphics
as I recall, I was almost done with a Celes/Setzer/Edgar only playthrough when I left my GBA in a restaurant
the load times on the PSX ports were killer
also the psx localization for v was dire
yeah the psx version of 5 completely turned me off the game for years until I read the GBA LP on the archive
the mobile/steam port for vi redoes the ui in ways that aren't great, but v was spared all that
the snapshotting before each battle makes omega and shinryu not so bad
I foolishly caved, bought the digital version, and vaguely forgot that my PS4 is set up in the corner of the room where I get no wireless
I moved it temporarily to a spot where I get wifi but the fast wifi just won't connect at all, so it's gonna take forever to download and I have to deal with a TV in the middle of my floor for a while, I guess
you're not my real dad, final fantasy vii
how far away is your router
the issue is mostly that I am in the attic
anyway, it's going faster now so it won't actually be 30 hours
ah yeah, that would do it
I get internet fine on my laptop and the apple tv picks up the signal better than the PS4, so mostly it's not an issue
oh nooo, that's a struggle
i hope it doesn't take too long
