And it's... kind of wild. For one, it doesn't look half bad on the Switch. The textures for the areas are a bit blurry, but otherwise the image is pretty sharp. The characters are ragdolls but it's.... fine.
Its hilarious that the opening FMV was like among the sharpest looking graphics in the game, but is just completely trounced even among handheld games from last gen.
But what's really striking is that now I feel like the game moves... too fast.
Like it feels absurd that I'm like an hour into the game and I'm already with Aerith.
Where's all my character nuance? Where's Barret providing his inspiring and motivational speech to his team?
Why are we leaving Marlene in charge of the bar!?
She was clearly depicted as being much older in the OG compared to what we see in Advent Children
Sector 7 is no longer a confusing labyrinth impossible to navigate. It's a one story screen town
Mostly I'm playing it because I want to sate my real thirst that FF7R did not at all quench.
My desire to build crazy and ridiculously overpowered materia combinations.
You have become a wild man
Materia in the OG is so amazing. Like the customization and way you can stack different effects together is just obscene and I love it.
God I forget what I put on Vincent but he wrecked EVERYTHING
I always was intimidated by materia.
It's a little bit complex, since it's not super clear on how each kind of materia can interact with another.
Fortunately the game isn't that hard, so it's not a big deal if you only have a basic understanding
Right, I was always afraid to use any because what if I was using it wrong/wasting it/would need it later/etc
