I'm looking for a cloth mask for when I have to go back to work in two weeks or so, and I'm fine paying but a lot of options have a (completely understandable) delay on orders
alex let me send you one. just pay shipping.
i made one of those "fold a bandana" ones but i couldn't breathe so i gave in a sewed myself one, i will also make you one
etsy... but it took like 3 eeks to get here
I'm selling them but I'm having a hard time keeping up with both sales and donations so this week I'm donating
i'm backlogged but could make you one when i've finished everyone else's
"hey i'll make you masks"
expectation: 10, 15
reality: 50
A few days ago I used
this site - they're not here yet obvs but!
yeah I've seen these mask plurks on my timeline get swarmed
i'm trying to prioritize by essential workers/places with mandatory masking but AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAaaa
I learned the hard way to only list as many as I can complete in a day and not get excited and ahead of myself. meanwhile also making 20 more for animal shelters and such
i'm not selling, just asking people to cover shipping, so i don't feel as bad about how backlogged i am
fortunately I only need one when
I go to the grocery store so folded bandanna has been ok
this has been a crash course in remembering how to sew, i tell you what
I have sexist friends who are out of work making them if you’re not already covered.
not as bad as when, looking for a gender-neutral term, i typed "sewers"
and didn't notice until one of my friends was like "i know what you mean, but, uh..."
etsy bc I needed one that tied in the back and didn't go over my ears
oh wait nm I think those are sold out but I'll keep an eye for new batches
lmao sexist friends that sure was an autocorrect
english's extreme flexibility betrayed me
actually sewing works as a descriptor of friends as in friends who sew
there isn't a general word for a person who sews in english bc it's such a widely used skill!! a 'person who sews' can do needlepoint or suture wounds
neither of which translate well to mask making which requires you to be able to cut patterns etc.!! that set of skills is generally called 'dressmaking' but you can say clothes making if you want
sewist is a nice word but man it's hard to get spellcheck to acknowledge it
anyway you made a mistake giving me your address for christmas cards be i mailed you a mask
you don't really need a pattern for the masks
it's just a bunch of rectangles
oh snap stealth masks. I approve.
english betrays me all the time and it's my native so i can't even fault anyone for its terribleness
from now on this plurk will be in latin
if you want money for shipping or dw points or anything lmk
nah i'm mailing is usps with a bunch of stamps lmao
