"organizing" though I don't know how actually organized they will be

but like, this is not organized

the problem is two-fold: I live in an attic with a sloped roof, which means I don't have space for traditional bookshelves

and I have a lot of books

this pile of books is but a fraction

I have another bookshelf in the hallway where some taller things can actually fit, but I still have this pile ++ many boxes in storage

so: I'm gonna build my own shelves that will fit in the tiny nooks I have

and if you are thinking "just get a kindle" know that I have like 700 books on my kindle

I donated ~100 books to the library before I put those books into storage (pre-COVID)

I've mostly stopped buying physical books but I don't want to get rid of the ones I have already collected and lugged up several flights of stairs

anyway I don't have power tools beyond like… a drill, but I went to home depot yesterday and bought: some planks, some concrete pavers, and glue

nothing 👏 could 👏 go 👏 wrong

sidenote age of fracture, seen in this book pile, remains a solid rec of mine and has been a real touchstone in how I have thought about the current political moment, where moment is "the last four years"

I read it in… 2014? I want to say? But I've thought about it a lot since then.
