The Land Before Time is a Post-apocalyptic dystopian movie geared toward pre-school children.

It is upsetting. Post-apocalyptic nightmares often are.

Particularly as part of the educational regimen of “ things are shitty now, but we guarantee a promised land at the end of your struggle”

..could argue it’s also a religious allegory in that vein

I think because the main characters already experienced the upheaval caused by their apocalypse, it falls into post-apocalyptic

Post-apocalyptic refers generally to the fallout experienced as the result of disaster, and dystopian refers to the the new societal structure in place (which is in this case no adults willing or present to care for youth, instead consuming all resources for themselves)

Yeah, watching that movie again with R has been interesting. (I won't anymore because it trips too many triggers for me, but I've seen it recent enough to be horrified with it.)
...yeah. Tho preschool to young school age i think?
