another thing about ancient greek pronunciation is that uses a pitch accent

so instead of putting stress on the syllables you accentuate by raising or lowering the pitch

when you see polytonic orthography like so: μῆνιν ἄειδε θεὰ Πηληϊάδεω Ἀχιλῆος

the grave, acute, and circumflex accents are supposed to tell you the pitch

the apostrophe at the beginning of certain words is whether or not there's an h sound, because Η was a vowel back then

if you ever meet me in person I will do the first line of the iliad with the pitch accent
