fjdksl that's sweet of you
IT SEEMS TO ME what must have happened is that DW has added a new table style that wasn't there before, so to "fix" it you'd just have to override the new defaults, which ought to work for most codes
(HOWEVER the actual solution is never to use tables)
what do you use instead of tables...?
depends on what it is? usually divs.
divs are broken too in some places!
they're aware of the problem and said it wasn't intentional, so they're requesting you don't update your table coding yet
so I'm personally holding off until they push a fix.
i mean, how are the divs breaking
and yes, they could fix this by reworking some of their own classes in the site scheme but adding background: transparent to your table tag won't actually hurt anything!

plz help the oak base cracked in 2 because the dog kept jumping up there
anyway
tsarcasm is this the general idea:
oh i think the header text is supposed to go on the right
idk i can't remember i'm the worst
I will say again that it's not some deep mystery what is going on with the dreamwidth default code, they added a new default table styling that wasn't there before. the way css works is that you declare rules for the website. you can be specific or general about this, saying "all links will be green" or "this specific link in the header will be green"
and a lot of stuff in between
what has happened is that the site skin added a new rule that says "all tables will have a white background"
they apparently didn't mean to do this but it's easy to fix since you can just add a little bit to your code to specify the background as not white
inline css almost always overrides global css by the rules of precedence, the issue is that no one defined a background color for their table because the default was also previously undefined
now, they could fix this by tweaking the global stylesheet some, and I hope they do because it's clearly causing people stress!! but I want to be clear the "fix" I am offering is just adding a bit more specificity to override the new dw code, it's not gonna break if they do tweak the global stylesheet
it's just mildly annoying to add background: transparent; to all your tables

from what I can figure it's mostly just you need to add
style="background: transparent; border: 0; margin-bottom: 0;" to a <table> tag to get it to display as before
if you have over 9000 table layouts I'd probably wait until dw fixes this, because it's a pain to go through 9000 table layouts
but if you just really want to fix one thing now, it's pretty simple.

tsarcasm I do demand payment in pet pictures
im waiting for a bit to see how/what dw does but i might... come back to this plurk if my one table is still borked after a few days or so
i will absolutely send you some
can confirm that ammay came through
