the important characters who die in game of thrones die because they weren't actually the important characters in his story, but their deaths serve to drive the story arcs of the actually important characters forward
chaosghost: I feel that Miyazaki and GRRM duo will create a more depressing story but I welcome that if it turns out good. You know how much input GRRM has on the writing of GOT tv series?
I feel like Miyazaki is more bleak than GRRM. In GRRM the idea is that it's a fantasy series with people living real believable lives trying to survive and thrive against one another. the Soulsborne is all "welp the world has ended everyone's just waiting to die or are already dead"
basically the problem was the adaptation removed a subplot involving the so called "Fake Aegon" who is supposedly the long lost son of the heroic/wifenapping Rhaegar Targaryan. If Daenerys had a rival pretender to the throne with an on paper stronger claim than hers then her whole "imma burn everything" might have gone down better
Anyway. That's more the GRRM thing. Characters will have to be deep and have their own motivations so maybe NPCs will be doing their own thing more in Elden Ring than in previous games
chaosghost: rival NPCs is already a thing in DS3 iirc there's one rivalry, a blue and red covenant. If you ranked up in one covenant the other NPC will leave.
