this is from my mom's side of the family-- they gave it to me when Grandma and Grandpa moved a few years ago, and I've just had it in my possession ever since.

speaking of them, I absolutely cut off that side of the family...

for those who don't remember, t hey held a very religious memorial for my mom when she passed away, even though she didn't want one and my brother, dad and I were against it. But they guilted dad into coming...

he laid bare some of his deepest secrets and they judged him. They judged him super hard. And then instead of focusing on mom, it became "Grandma and grandpa are the best and thank goodness they moved here to Texas, please applause!!!"

then grandma was trying to get into dad's will when he got sick. my big brother and I cut then out of our lives.

well...update, they don't have either of our addresses, but they figured out where I worked (it was dad's company), and sent me a letter.

and it was just what you'd expect. After dozens of phone messages saying they just want to talk, and they don't understand why we're acting this way, and they just want to be in our lives...

the letter was the exact same. Grandma said that grandpa isn't doing well and wants to see us.

this was about a month or so ago. And....well, it was...awful. It's been pretty ugly. But we still haven't spoken with them.

ANYWHO. i found their dishes. and honestly, I don't know if I want to keep them or throw them away. but while I'm figuring that out...I just figured I'd keep them.
