I do know it can negatively affect your credit scores, at least for a bit. This may or may not matter depending on what your plans are.

ie if no large purchases in the next 2-3 years then it wouldn't be a big deal

in 2-3 years it could turn out better then if you didn't, that's why it depnds on what your plans are as to if it's a good idea or not

well I had debated it at one time, but decided to try one last approach and it worked for me.

not really much of a choice, either keep paying the minimum for the rest of my life or try and find a way to get it paid off in 3-4 years
