I had... have? Whichever. MRSA. I had surgery on thursday to remove the plate and they had told me I was going home on Friday.
I didn't get to go home until yesterday. YESTERDAY
There weren't any complications. Nothing went wrong. I am fine and healthy. It was all beaurocratic bullshit
I had to wait for the cultures to come back to confirm that it WAS MRSA.
Then find out with round of super potent antibiotics would work on it so I could be prescribed.
But this was all happening on the weekend, and even in hospitals, shit doesn't get done fast on a weekend. So I found out Monday what was supposed to happen and that I should be able to be discharged monday
My nurse case manager and the hospital care manager were playing phone tag all day monday. And my workers comp guy apparently never got back in contact with the hospital to tell them what companies to use for my antibiotics
So I had called my mother, told her I was ready. Got her to drive an hour to get me. Then she sits there for 2 hours only to be told I can't go home until Tuesday.
And I had been trying to get them to do the discharge paperwork BEFORE she got there just in case it actually WASN'T ready but they wanted to wait until my ride was there.
So my poor mother wasted her time and she was so tired. I felt bad.
Then Tuesday rolls around, and it's around 1pm and my nurse care manager calls me to apologize because none of the local places take workers comp. The bastards. So my antibiotics have to come from freakin Louisiana. And even overnight fedex they weren't going to get there until Wednesday at noon.
Then they said that the antibiotics had to be administered around 2pm Wednesday, but my mother is at work? Who is taking me home? She couldn't got me this morning so she would still make her meeting, but they didn't tell me until like, 9am.

And so I was about to be stuck there until 10pm that night because I needed to have the antibiotics run either around 2-3pm or wait until they get run again at 8pm [and it takes 2 hours for the bad to empty]
But luckily, worker's comp paid for a lyft [hospital conceirge...!] to my mothers house and I got there by 2 and thus could get my antibiotics and be home
I just wanted to be home and not stuck in the hospital, where I couldn't even get out of bed to pee without calling someone.
They had the bed alarm on! I didn't realize it until I had been there for days [I was being a good patient and asking like I was supposed to] and they forgot to turn it off when I got out of bed.
It was like 'DO NOT. GET UP. PLEASE WAIT FOR A HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT. THEY HAVE BEEN CALLED.'
I'm like 'WHAT? You guys had an alarm on my bed...?????'
MRSA is such a shit show, i'm sorry
hospitals have to be super careful about it
lol yeah, i was in isolation. they even have me disposable food trays and plastic utensils
they the them away when i was done. i didn't even get real silverware haha
a close friend of mine is an admin at a nursing home. he deals with it there all the time, and when he was working at the welfare benefits office too
Yeah, they said it was a pain in the ass, but they'd rather have mrsa than covid
Yeah, so lol. I at least am home now. My sister wants to spray me with lysol because she thinks being in the hospital makes me more at risk for covid. not to mention i was at work for a week and a half
LOL I want to stop this ride. No more journeying for me
No you have to ride it to the end!!!
