I finally succumbed to getting Spotify [free version] because the reaction channel I follow is getting a radio show. But it will be fun to do a 2021 wrapped next year.

My phone shows what I listened to most, but it isn't divided yearly. It's just over the life of the whole phone.

Spotify paid was so worth it to me

I'm not a fan of streaming services. Often, they pay the artist shit. And then you don't even own the music you like. If they get a bug up their ass (or what Taylor Swift did) and pull the music off the service, now you don't have access.

I'll use spotify on my computer. probably no problem with that. but on my phone I'll have actual files. no worry about access, having a connection, or having to pay to download them to listen offline.

I like being able to listen offline when I was on the subway and I discovered far more music and artists that way

The ads and inability to select song was why I paid for it

I also have never been interested in full albums so playlists are vastly more my speed

Having all those files just bogged me down and made it so I didn't branch out in my music

Once I got unlimited data, I would keep select playlists offline but the rest I stream for long drives

I actually have a family plan and it makes cute playlists that combine Zack and Jon and my music

I totally get why some ppl don't want it though, and I can't argue with them not really paying artists

I have at times used them as a music player to play music I have purchased

If there is one thing I look forward to is it showing me more artists. I have a wide range already and I get more and more all the time, but stuff definitely falls through the cracks.

On the desktop version, apparently there are far less ads and you can curate your playlists more. I'll see if that's actually true when I sign up and start using it.

One thing I know I do want is podcasts. There are some I've wanted but they're on spotify or apple music.

I only ever listen to the full albums a few times. Then I delete the ones I don't like. lol.

So he listens to the full thing and never deletes the ones he doesn't like?

I can't do that I keep the ones I like and they get dissolved into the playlists

Spotify on the desktop is proving to be nice. lots of playlists. Some Japanese songs I like but don't listen to because Japan and their harsh copyright system
