my furnace has been doing this weird thing where it kicks on, runs for 6 minutes, then the blower shuts off and the motor runs for 10-15 seconds, then the blower kicks on for 6 minutes, etc. And this cycle will run for up to two hours and only change the temp 2 degrees. It wasn't meeting the thermostat's program;
I'd reset both software and hardware, tightened the screws on the back of the thermostat, checked the vents (which were not blowing full capacity but were warm). It wouldn't kick back on to make up the difference between the temp when it shut off and the programmed temp, so all day yesterday it was 62 in the house, and overnight it fell to 57 inside.
I usually don't let Clove in the bedroom because she just makes messes and can't be trusted not to unplug my phone overnight but it was COLD so I let her in and she slept with me all night curled up in my knees, and sometimes even asked for under the blankets. I have the weighted blanket on my bed which traps heat, so I was okayish, but knew she was COLD.
She once crawled under the blankets and buried her nose in my arm and chest and just shivered.
So got up this morning to go to Lowes at 7:30 to buy a space heater. Put in a maintenance request before I went. Bought the heater, came home, and noticed it was a hell of a lot warmer and the furnace was going well. The vent above my front door was A BLOWIN' like it normally does, and the thermostat read 66.
It kept going. Reached the programmed temperature of 70. Shut off. I checked to see if the override would kick it on again. It did.
Astounding. I froze for 4 days and had to shelter my cat in the night, but as soon as I bought a space heater, it decides to work just fine. What the fuck. 2020, move on.
I'm really glad it's working again but holy cow
Yeah, it really stunk. We had been curled up under three blankets in the living room all day and the night was bad. I went upstairs earlier to see where Clove was and she was curled up on top of the vent in my room where it gets caught in my curtains and creates a big air bubble in the curtains. Just held her ears and told her they were so warm.
I'm done. I'm so fucking done.
