some of us are still here
Awesome. You know, I have accumulated a fair number of followers out at Twitter, and I could post something like I just did here, and it would 9 times out of 10 go unanswered. I post here, I get a response. Sweet! Thank you for responding!
goodform I deleted my Twit account due to the toxicity & their poor decisions
momof3plus: I get it; I'm going to keep mine; there's too many things I like to follow regarding hobbies, and our pastor,
joeinblack, who is phenomenal; he's very active on Twitter. I just hope to transition a lot of my day to day posts here to Plurk. We'll see how it goes.

glad to see you are back, a few others have come back as well. Hope you stick around!
I’m doing the same with my farcebook account. There are others I follow as well as hobbies, so that one I’m keeping for now
I plan to; my timeline is pretty dead, just you. Not that your posts are dead, just you're it.
Hi, welcome back, many of us are still here from when Fr. Z brought us in back in 2006-7
Makemeaspark: I got here originally with Fr. Roderick (SQPN).
Oh yes, we were all into Fr. R at that time also. Used to go there and chat...
He got me on Plurk, Twitter, and Facebook. I got away from listening to his podcast. No problem, just kind of faded away from listening.
same here but occasionally, i get into his fanboy-ness about Star Wars.
I pop in from time to time as well.
howdy. I'm part of the Fr. Roderick crowd, but I don't remember you - nice to "see" you.
I stopped listening to Fr. Roderick after he got rid of the morning breakfast show. The weekly show was too long and the "news" was a week old. Still drop in on SQPN, esp. Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World.
but now my podcast tastes are more Patrick Coffin, CA Live, PwA, FrZ, etc.
mikel1: Hey Mike, it’s been a long time.
mikel1: I do drop in on Fr. R from time to time; I love Jimmy Akin’s Mysterious World. I listen to a lot of tech and recently got back into sports cards, so I listen to shows about that; I like The Counsel of Trent, and Pints With Aquinas as well.
goodform: I was listening to a bunch of tech shows, like TWIT, but I can't help but think that tech is more of a problem than a solution right now. Sad. In secular podcasts I'm more into "The Way I Heard it", "We Hold These Truths", "Gun Lawyer", "This Week in Guns" (guess what my hobby is). OH and I forgot to mention "American Catholic History" from SQPN
and "The Road to Emmaus" (Scott Hahn) and Fr. Mike Schmitz' Bible in a Year podcast
Oh man, I’m a gun guy too. I do most of my gun media on YouTube, hicock45, Warrior Poet. I love my Glock 43. I also have a Ruger 10/22 Takedown, and a Remington 870 Express 12 gauge. I’m into small game hunting as well. Great to meet another gun not here.
There’s something very secular about the Twit shows that leaves me feeling cold. I know it’s not a religious organization, I don’t know how to explain it.
goodform: yeah, Warrior Poet is good, I enjoy Hickok45, but find it a bit slow. I just discovered Pheasant hunting, have not gone further but would like to. I have a Tristar O/U, 10/22, etc. I like old milsurp stuff. Not a big glock guy though.
I’m not a Glock fan-boy by any means; I started off with a Ruger SR9c, then traded to a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact, then I just wanted something small for easier, more comfortable concealement, and really liked the Glock 43 so I traded in my Beretta. I’ve always shot Glocks really well, so that also played into the decision.
I think I would like pheasant hunting, you can walk around. I’m not patient enough for deer hunting. I have to be patient with small game, the squirrels out in the woods are much more careful than the ones in a neighborhood. But I still don’t have to sit for hours on end, days on end, and then have nothing to show for it anyway. LOL!
I had an sr9c - great gun. Have an M9A1 but would like an M17/M18. Do you eat the squirrels? What do they taste like? I was going to try deer this year, but injured my ankle and was unable to climb. Plus the regulations here are draconian.
beautiful place with some nice cabins & a gorgeous dining room
mikel1 it is beautiful, we did the dining room, with solar film to prevent the taxidermy pieces from ruin. I’d love to go there to do some fishing
mikel1 Honestly, I'm pretty new to small game hunting. I shot and field dressed my first one last spring, but when I got it home COVID was just starting, we were all spooked, and my wife said "You're not bringing THAT into our house." LOL!! So I don't know how they taste, but I've been told you have to soak the meat in a brine for at least a day to soften..
mikel1 Then there are recipes out there that are supposed to be good. I plan to find out. Field dressing was tough at first, I didn't think I had it in me, but once I got over that hump I wasn't so bad.
momof3plus That sounds nice. Just getting outdoors makes it all worthwhile.
goodform: at least pheasants are easy to dress, and they taste pretty good "out of the box".

but cool, and I hope you enjoy them when you get back to it.
