I also liked that the father/son relationship between Sam and Ash was unspoken.

They didn't need to ram it down our throats by having the characters declare their feelings for each other, it was just obvious by the way they acted around each other.

Maybe it was accidental good relationship writing, but it was still good relationship writing.

Also dumb how the fandom just ate up the retcon

Before the retcon most people agreed that Sam was a father figure for Ash

post Kukui it's all "oh he was never a father figure for Ash, he's more of a grandfather or mentor figure"

The only ones going "Sam is still a father figure for Ash even with Kukui in the picture" are actual Professor Oak fans it feels like

Though I will say Pokemon journeys is better than Ygo7s... in which they try to promote the altered game as being better every 5 minutes

I guess Pokemon has the ongoing anime problem of having to "up the stakes" with every new season

but for me, if it's "more of the same but high quality" I will eat it up

I feel like Pokemon is making enough money that they can afford to slow things down a little and put some real effort to make it good

like early Pokemon, gen 1/gen 2, you can tell they wanted to make a good game/anime, they weren't just trying to sell merch

and it was so much better for it

but now it's just an oiled machine, GET NEW POKEMON OUT SO PEOPLE WILL BUY CARDS/PLUSHIES/MERCH OF THEM SO WE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY

but like... people will still buy merch even if the Pokemon is over 2 years old, really, it's okay, you don't need a new gen every 2 years
